One question I am frequently asked is “Who does a tarot reader see for a tarot reading?” I am asked if I read the cards for myself or if I have a tarot reader that I consult. I guess it is very much like hairdressing; does the hairdresser cut his or her own hair or see another hairdresser when they want a haircut? The simple answer is that I read for myself and I also consult another tarot reader when I have a question.
Reading for Myself
Like everyone else, I have days when I am too much in my own head and want some clarity. Those are the days that I will pick up the cards and pull either one or several cards for a reading. I use these readings to help myself to see a situation more clearly, rather than as a ‘what will happen’ type reading. More often than not, these readings help me to see aspects of my problem or circumstances that I had over-looked and this allows me to feel better and to find a different way forward.
These readings are very similar to when we talk about a problem with a friend; the act of discussing it allows us to explore the problem more fully, rather than just reacting in fear and worry to our worst case scenario thoughts.
A Tarot Reader for this Tarot Reader
Sometimes though, the problem or situation I am presented with can be too overwhelming for me to read for myself. Thankfully, this does not happen very often, but when it does, it is usually because I have a real vested interest in the outcome. Of course it could be argued that I have a vested interest in everything that happens in my life, but some problems have more of an emotional impact than others. For example, trying to puzzle out whether I should accept a contract or not, is very different from the emotional roller coaster that relationship problems can present. So, when I fear I will not be able to exercise my objectivity in a reading, I do turn to another reader.
Recently I consulted Pascale, who is a tarot reader I have a lot of respect for. She is a very capable reader and is extremely accurate. The thing I like the best about Pascale’s readings is that she is very direct and will tell me exactly what she sees. I have consulted dozens upon dozens of readers, both for personal readings and for review purposes, and although most readers will say they will not sugar coat and will give you the news straight, in my experience, very few will do just that. The other type of reader, which is a rarer creature, is the type that can be quite cruel in their delivery of the reading. In my opinion, Pascale gets the balance just right. She is not afraid to tell you what the reading has shown her, but she delivers the information in a wonderfully warm and supportive way. I think this is a very important quality in a reader.
