Welcome to Taurus season and the Taurus season 2024 cheat sheet.
I have to admit right out of the gate that I am looking forward to this season after the tumultuous shifts of last season. What a month April has been and I feel I can say that even as I sit here recording this just mid-way through the month. There are many astrological transits that we could talk about but I will save those for the weeklies and keep this just about the over-arching energies. I will say this though, that as I have mentioned before, the readings that I did for Aquarius season do appear to be so much bigger than just one season. They are in some way visions of the future, our own visions of the future. Taurus season represents the first quarter or waxing quarter after that energy, so I will ask you this month to revisit those, below I have incorporated working with those themes this season.
Let’s begin by looking at the quote for the season, which is from the late Queen Elizabeth II. “It has always been easy to hate and destroy. To build and to cherish is much more difficult. ”
I chose the quote because yes, she was a Taurus Sun, a 0 degree Taurus sun. But more than that, I feel this quote embodies the axis of Taurus and Scorpio. Scorpio season, at least in the northern hemisphere, is truly when the vibrant and vital richness of summer has decayed and died as we are in the middle of autumn. From a deeply personal perspective, Scorpio and the associated 8th house is also where we can find our own destructive and sometimes even hateful tendencies. Just think of the most well-known animal symbol of Scorpio, the Scorpion, and the stinger it is known for. There is a time to go deep and to do battle with our own hydras. This is necessary so that we are able to transform and grow. But transformation is not just about removing the rot or the destruction of that which does not work. It is not just about cutting this out of your life or leaving that behind. There is another part to transformation and that is growth and that is where Taurus comes in. Taurus represents Spring.
So, let’s go back to the quote, and also the speech it was taken from, as it really does illustrate a lot of what I feel about the themes of this season and even these times.
I understand monarchy is a controversial topic, even here, in the UK, and an alien concept to many. But let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water, and ironically, that’s what the Queen says in her own way too. For me, it is less about whether we need monarchy or not, and more about is this an institution that represents our modern collective values? What are those values? So, some background for those who might be unfamiliar, at 3pm on Christmas day every year a speech from the monarch is played. The quote I have used is taken from Queen Elizabeth’s 1957 Christmas speech, which was also her first televised speech. She begins by talking about how 25 years earlier her grandfather had given the first speech and she refers to traditions in the parts I will share with you. This brings to mind the tarot card associated with Taurus – the Hierophant. She makes reference to new and emerging technologies and as we sit here today, 66 years later, we have our own new technologies to contend with.
She talks about herself and how she may appear to be a remote figure to so many. While you and I may not be monarchs, I know I can relate to that feeling of remoteness, especially in the context of all the deep diving we have done with Scorpio energy, how many truly know us or see us? We have these avatars be it on social media, or the various roles we play in life. But for all the different ways to see each other and be seen, how much do we actually connect and impact one another (that is a theme we will definitely be exploring next month in Gemini season). The reference that she makes to welcoming us to the peace of her own home, seems like such a Taurus statement to me.
The paragraph where she references the speed at which things are changing feels so applicable to what we see around us at the moment, especially after Aries season. She honours the challenges of these changes but also talks about some of the reasons we do find these so challenging and threatening.
Let me share these beginning paragraphs of the speech with you and then I will return to show how we can ground these principles and ideas into or own lives this Taurus season:
“Twenty-five years ago my grandfather broadcast the first of these Christmas messages. Today is another landmark because television has made it possible for many of you to see me in your homes on Christmas Day. My own family often gather round to watch television as they are this moment, and that is how I imagine you now.”
“I very much hope that this new medium will make my Christmas message more personal and direct.”
“It is inevitable that I should seem a rather remote figure to many of you. A successor to the Kings and Queens of history; someone whose face may be familiar in newspapers and films but who never really touches your personal lives. But now at least for a few minutes I welcome you to the peace of my own home.”
“That it is possible for some of you to see me today is just another example of the speed at which things are changing all around us. Because of these changes I am not surprised that many people feel lost and unable to decide what to hold on to and what to discard. How to take advantage of the new life without losing the best of the old.”
“But it is not the new inventions which are the difficulty. The trouble is caused by unthinking people who carelessly throw away ageless ideals as if they were old and outworn machinery.”
“They would have religion thrown aside, morality in personal and public life made meaningless, honesty counted as foolishness and self-interest set up in place of self-restraint.”
“At this critical moment in our history we will certainly lose the trust and respect of the world if we just abandon those fundamental principles which guided the men and women who built the greatness of this country and Commonwealth.”
“Today we need a special kind of courage, not the kind needed in battle but a kind which makes us stand up for everything that we know is right, everything that is true and honest. We need the kind of courage that can withstand the subtle corruption of the cynics so that we can show the world that we are not afraid of the future.”
“It has always been easy to hate and destroy. To build and to cherish is much more difficult.”
There you go, that was Queen Elizabeth II speaking on Christmas Day 1957. She continues the speech and she is talking about building and cherishing the commonwealth. You and I, we have an opportunity to build and cherish from our own values this season.
One of the first things Taurus reminds us, which is also touched on in that speech is that we are all organic beings. The Earth that we live on is an organic being. Sadly, many systems take a much more material, mechanistic view of living, be that our health, finances, relationships etc. We are not machines. We cannot just change out one part and think it will not have a ripple effect. A much more holistic view is needed. I see Taurus as the roots of who we are. These roots are our values, because from there, everything else grows. Too often we can focus on that which is not growing and think it can be found or added. A tree at the end of winter does not need to go looking for leaves, it must grow them.
In many areas of life, we have this notion that a good life is a comfortable one, but that is not a natural life. Sometimes the most natural part of living is pain and discomfort. Just ask any mother who has gone through childbirth or anybody who has lost a loved one. It is our values that give us the courage to navigate and grow through challenges and hardships which are a natural part of life on Earth.
Working With Taurus Energy
Grounding Practices: Taurus energy encourages us to connect with the earth and find stability. I would take this one step further and encourage connecting to physical, material reality. Yes, we can explore grounding practices such as spending time in nature or gardening, but even practicing mindfulness can give us a sense of rootedness through the day-to-day and cosmic shifts.
- How do I currently connect with the earth and nature in my daily life?
- Are there any grounding activities or practices I can incorporate into my routine?
- How does grounding myself in that which is real and material affect my overall sense of well-being and stability?
Material World Focus: It’s a great time for practical financial planning and building a stable foundation for the future. Consider revisiting your finances, budgeting, and long-term financial goals.
- What are my financial goals, and how can I work towards achieving them?
- Does how I spend my money reflect my values and priorities?
- How can I create a more stable and secure financial future for myself?
Sensory Pleasures: Indulge in the pleasures of the senses – basically that which we can see, feel, touch, taste and hear. Taurus season invites us to savour life’s simple pleasures, whether it’s enjoying good food, luxurious fabrics, soothing music, or the beauty of art and nature. Take time to pamper yourself and appreciate the richness of sensory experiences. This is also a great way to ground yourself.
- What activities or experiences bring me joy and pleasure through my senses?
- How can I incorporate more sensory indulgence into my daily life?
- Do I take time to fully savor and appreciate the sensory experiences around me?
Patience and Persistence: Taurus embodies patience and persistence, reminding us that good things take time to manifest. Focus on cultivating patience in your endeavours and staying committed to your goals, even when faced with challenges or setbacks. Sometimes it isn’t that a goal or endeavour isn’t working, it’s just that we are attached to a time-frame that this should happen within. Think 7 of Pentacles and be honest with yourself whether something is worth the time and effort.
- In what areas of my life do I struggle with patience, and how can I cultivate more of it?
- What long-term goals am I currently working towards, and how can I stay persistent in their pursuit?
- How do I respond to challenges and setbacks, and what strategies can I use to maintain perseverance?
Values: Reflect on your values and priorities. Taurus season encourages us to reassess what truly matters to us and ensure that our actions align with our core values. Take time to evaluate your relationships, career choices, and personal goals, making adjustments where necessary to honour your authenticity.
- What are my core values, and do my actions reflect them?
- Are there any areas of my life where I feel a disconnect between my values and my behaviours?
- When I make choices do they come from what matters most to me?
Self-Care and Physical Well-being: This is a great season to consider self-care and physical well-being. Pay attention to your body’s needs, nourish yourself with nutritious food, and engage in activities that promote relaxation and rejuvenation. These don’t have to be massive changes but committing to healthy routines and habits now can have long-lasting benefits.
- How do I currently prioritise self-care and physical health in my life?
- Are there any self-care practices or routines I can implement to better support my well-being?
- What changes can I make to promote better physical health and vitality?
Stability and Security: The above areas can help with achieving stability and security in your life. Whether it’s through cultivating supportive relationships, strengthening your home environment, or investing in your future, focus on building a solid foundation that offers comfort and reassurance. I chose this as a separate point because while it’s threads run through all the others, it is a sense in and of itself too.
- What aspects of my life provide me with a sense of stability and security?
- Are there any areas where I feel a lack of stability, and how can I address them?
- How can I create a more nurturing and supportive environment for myself and those around me?
Embrace Change with Grace: While Taurus is known for its resistance to change, it’s important to remember that change is inevitable. I truly believe that Taurus can help us to embrace transitions with grace and openness, trusting in the process of growth and evolution. The overall stability we are looking to implement this season can help us to stay adaptable and resilient in the face of shifting circumstances.
- How do I typically respond to change, and are there any patterns or beliefs influencing my reaction?
- What strategies can I use to embrace change more gracefully and with greater adaptability?
- How can I view change as an opportunity for growth and evolution rather than as a source of fear or resistance?
Mindfulness in Communication: As the sign before Gemini, Taurus season is a great time to practice mindful communication. Take time to listen attentively to others, speak thoughtfully and intentionally, and express gratitude for the blessings in your life. Cultivate a sense of presence and awareness in your interactions, fostering deeper connections and understanding. If we’re totally honest with ourselves, a lot of the instability in our lives comes from our inability to communicate effectively with others or a fear of being misunderstood or a fear of conflict. Take your time and be patient with yourself and others. Remember, manners and being polite are not an excuse to not speak truth, this is more about how we speak our truth and listen to others speaking theirs.
- How do I approach communication with others, and do I practice active listening?
- Am I mindful of the words I use and the impact they may have on others?
- How can I cultivate deeper connections and understanding through mindful communication?
Cultivate Inner Peace: This is one speaks to the culmination of all these areas – a focus on cultivating inner peace and tranquillity. Taurus season invites us to find solace within ourselves, regardless of external circumstances. Remember, Taurus energy is akin to a moving meditation. Think about what other practices can help foster a sense of inner peace, such as meditation, yoga, or journaling.
- What practices or activities help me to cultivate a sense of inner peace and tranquillity?
- How do I prioritise my emotional and mental well-being in my daily life?
- Are there any thought patterns or behaviours that disrupt my inner peace, and how can I address them?

As we reflect on the messages from the Aquarius seasonals, we can consider how to navigate the inevitable changes and challenges that arise on the path to manifestation. How can we remain flexible and open-minded, adjusting our course as needed while staying true to our vision?
