Are you looking for some new tarot cards for Halloween? You may be a professional reader who wants to use a Halloween-themed deck for client readings, or you may want a tarot deck for your Halloween event. You may like the symbols we associate with Halloween, or want a deck with horror elements, or, my favourite reason, you may just want a new deck of tarot cards for your collection. Whatever your reason, I aim to show you a selection of my favourite tarot cards for Halloween. These cards are so fabulous that it would be a shame to just use them once a year, and if you don’t believe me, just take a look at the video I have included at the bottom of the page which shows examples of the cards from each deck.
Halloween Tarot
The first tarot deck that comes to mind when thinking of tarot cards for Halloween is the Halloween Tarot and there is a good reason for this. It is a standard 78 card deck which is based on the Rider-Waite but the images are composed of all the elements that we have come to associate with Halloween. The usual suits are gone and replaced by Halloween classics; Cups are Ghosts, Pentacles are Pumpkins, Swords are Bats and Wands have become Imps. The images are made up of lots of the colours we associate with this time of year, but even with the blacks and oranges, the cards still have such a bright feel to them.
This is a lovely quirky deck and very well done. There are so many dark, gothic cards for this time of the year, so if you want something more light-hearted and fun, then this is definitely the deck for you.
Favole Tarot Cards by Victoria Francés
Victoria Francés is a Spanish artist who is well known for her Gothic artwork and I love her dark, but extremely beautiful illustrations of mythical creatures and beings of the night. This beauty has been encapsulated in this set of glorious tarot cards.
Even though it was the norm in earlier European tarot cards, I usually don’t recommend tarot cards where the pip cards, the cards of the suits, are not fully illustrated. However, these cards are so lusciously magnificent in their Gothic beauty that I really believe they rise above that being an issue. The usual suits have also been replaced with butterflies, crosses, masks and roses.
I would not recommend this deck for beginners who are using the images of the cards to interpret the meanings, as this is not a deck based on the Rider Waite system. Some may find these cards a little dark, but those that love Gothic romanticism cannot ask for more.
Zombie Tarot
If you want wild, wacky and just a little bit of gore from your Halloween tarot deck, then look no further than the Zombie Tarot. When I first heard about this deck I was a little bewildered; who would create a tarot card deck featuring a retro zombie apocalypse? Then I saw it and I loved it!
The Zombie tarot is based on the Rider Waite system and while the cups, swords and wands remain, the pentacles have been replaced by hazards, as in bio hazards.
It is a very well done and deck and that may be it’s downfall; you may be too busy feeling impressed with the images and forget your reading. Still, at a time when zombies are most definitely in, the Zombie Tarot is a perfect modern deck for Halloween.
So, these are just three of the decks I would recommend if you are looking for tarot cards for Halloween. If you would like to take a closer look at some of the cards from the decks mentioned here, just check out the video below.
