Three of Swords Tarot Card Meanings
This card seems to portray a rather gruesome image. There is a heart which is pierced by three swords and as if this isn’t enough, there seems to be storm clouds and rain behind it.
The red heart is quite obviously representative of our hearts or emotions. The fact that it is pierced by three swords cannot be a good thing; they should leave the heart destroyed. But the heart still looks bright red and alive and there is no blood from these wounds, which makes me wonder “How long have those swords been in there?” The swords may be representative of a loss or pain that was once inflicted on our hearts. The pain did not destroy us, but we healed our hearts around the pain and have carried it around for a very long time, whether we know it or not.
Is there something that has now brought to our attention these swords? To pull them out now may hurt, but in the long run it would no longer be the best thing for us. The weather in the background makes me think of anger or tears; they’re a release and maybe an aid to moving beyond this pain.
