Queen of Cups Tarot Card Meanings

The image on this court card shows us a queen sitting on a throne at the edge of a sea.  Her throne is adorned with carvings of merbabies.  In her hands she holds an elaborate cup, upon which she gazes lovingly.

There is something very sweet about this queen.  She has a gentle, soft expression on her face.  She gives this vessel her full attention and it makes me wonder what she sees, or feels, but this mystery adds to her wonder.  If I were sat on that throne, I’d be looking out to sea or at the majestic cliffs around me, but not her.  I think she sees and feels something more than the rest of us do.

She really appears to be a gentle, affectionate woman; she after all appears to have dominion over the sea and is further supported by the cherubic mer-babies.  The only thing that would concern me about her is as she focuses so intently on one thing, the cup in this instance, what does she miss?  Just like the knight, there seems to be something impractical about her.
