World Tarot Card Meanings
This is the last card of the Major Arcana; the end of the journey. When I think of the world, I think of everything; absolutely everything. The image itself is the most similar to the Wheel of Fortune card and has the same four figures in the corners of the image. But, unlike the Wheel of Fortune image, these figures do not have books and are not noting anything; it seems as though what was written has now transpired. The figures, who were solid golden statues in the Wheel of Fortune, now have colour and seem more real. They also have happy expressions on their faces as if they are joyous at the events that have occurred.
The other difference in this card is that instead of a wheel at the centre of the image, we have a woman with a rod in either hand dancing. She is encircled by a wreath.
She makes me think of someone rejoicing or dancing as she is high in the sky, surrounded by the four representatives of the elements. The wreath harks back to the wheel in the Wheel of Fortune card. It represents the cyclical aspect of life; how we continue, nothing stays the same, but nothing truly ends either. Also, in ancient Greece, a laurel wreath was awarded to victors in the Olympics and in ancient Rome, awarded to those that were victorious on the battlefield. So this wreath very much speaks to me of victory and a job well done.
So the story being told here appears to be about having reached the end of your journey and that it is time to celebrate achievements. It’s time to enjoy what is and take a pause now and revel in your success, because this cards resemblance to the Wheel of Fortune card reminds us that the wheel keeps turning and soon it will be time to start a new journey.
